This restaurant had been
highly recommended by a dear friend of mine. After driving by dozens
of times without spotting it, today I finally decided to "find and
try it".
Outside there were guests dining on the
porch. Inside, white linens covered the
tables adorned with silverware, candlelight and fresh flowers.
I decided to sample a glass of white
wine which the waitress recommended (she said it would "go well with
my caesar salad"): Colombelle - French, white, from Gascony).
She was right!
Fresh, crusty bread - hot out of the
oven - was delivered to the table in advance. I was thankful it was
not "rubberized" from a microwave. I was also grateful for
the room temperature butter which did not bend knives or tear holes thru
my bread.
I ordered a "Hearts of
Romaine caesar salad with herbed croutons". It was presented
with grated cheese on top, and pepper was freshly ground at the
table. The dressing was slightly creamy in texture and not oily at
all, very light and full of flavor.
The lettuce was well balanced
with the dressing; no flavor was dominant, although I did occassionally
get a bite of anchovy.
I didn't leave one leaf
behind; delicious!
